Because Every Mom Needs a Good Coverup

As a mom of four littles, I live in coverups during the summer.

This may just be my experience, but as a mom of little kids, there’s nothing I love more than a pool. We basically live at our pool during the summer. This may surprise people who know me well, because I personally do not love getting in the water. I always find pools are too cold (why can’t they just crank that heat?) and I don’t love the chlorine (or what it does to my hair tbh). But I will take one for the team and jump in with the kids (or let’s be serious, send the hubs in while I watch from the edge) because it’s the best way to get kids energy out in the summer and on vacation. A few hours at the pool and they’re ready for naps or to chill out the rest of the day. We’ll feed them some lunch (or even dinner!) there, rinse them off, head home and we’re good to go. I often will bring pjs there if we’re staying late and feed them dinner, rinse them, change them and put them straight to bed. No mess to clean, no baths to negotiate. It’s one of my favorite parenting hacks tbh. And as much as I love the beach, I’m not as big of a fan of it with kids. All the sand to clean up and keep out of mouths and the waves to negotiate, stresses me out even though we do love a good beach day.

If everyone is fighting or getting stir crazy or we have an or hour two to fill, I’ll bring them to the pool. My bigs can now swim on their own and love just spending time at the pool with their friends, so it’s also like a built-in playdate that I don’t have to fill. Bottom line: we’re at the pool almost every day during summer. And therefore, I’m in a swimsuit and coverup almost every single day. I like to invest in really good coverups because I find that I’ll wear mine all day — from camp drop off to coffee to squeezing in some work to the pool to the grocery store etc.. I also just love a cute coverup. And there are so many right now, so I’ve rounded up my faves.
